CENTER I BEAMS
In order that the basement level retail tenancies could be enlarged
2 primary structural beam had to be replaced and removed. The beams were
over 1m deep and weighed over 13 tonnes. They had to be inserted beneath
an existing occupied retail floor and above two levels of underground
carparks. The existing beam had to have concrete encasement blasted from
it prior to being cut out and removed from the building. Although not
a large project in so far as cost it was definitely one of the more challenging
projects. Due to the success of these two beams we are now exploring the
options of removing another 8 beams in the same manner.
